Medina Leaves 30/8/04
 
Nicolas Medina is set to sign for Spanish outfit Real Murcia. He has agreed a deal to cancel his contract at Sunderland. Nicolas has never really impressed Mick Mccarthy, or former managers enough to gain a place in the first team at SAFC.
 
Cup Draw 26/8/04
 
Sunderland were seeded in the top 25, therfore, were given a seeded side which happened to be Crewe Alexandra(a). The second round ties will be played the week beginning the 20th of September.
 
Mick Pleased..now25/8/04
 
Mick McCarthy has expressed his delight over the result against Chester City in the Carling Cup.
 
McCarthy Unhappy 22/8/04
 
Mick McCarthy has blasted his players after the performance at Plymouth. Sunderland should clearly have had a penalty, but McCarthy admits that Sunderland were beaten by a much more harder working side. The team need to put on a show against Chester City, and get off to a consistent run of good results.
 
Poom Comeback 19/8/04
 
Mart Poom is looking to return to the Sunderland side at Plymouth on Saturday. Thomas Myhre has taken his place in the recent matches against Crewe and QPR.
 
Breen Confident 16/8/04
 
Gary Breen is confident that Sunderland will improve on their performance and get the results they need to keep up our promotion hopes. Sunderland have had one defeat, draw and win so far this season, which is too inconsistant for a Promotion challenging side.
 
Kyle Getting Treatment 16/8/04
 
This week, Kevin Kyle is going to recieve more tests on his hip problem that he has had for several games, to try and clear the injury.
 
Collins Signs 13/8/04
 
Sunderland have completed the signing of Dumbarton defender, Neil Collins. The 20 year old Scotsman, has signed a two year deal after impressing in his trial at SAFC.
 
Mick is Still Looking 12/8/04
 
McCarthy is still looking for that extra striker to add depth up front, and to take Kyle's place if he wasn't available and also to be able to play alongside him. McCarthy has been interested in several strikers throughout the summer.
 
Marcus Stewart 12/8/04
 
Marcus Stewart has said that there is a lot more to come from him, and that he'll improve his performance. Marcus was furious with himself after the Crewe performance, knowing that he should score more than one goal out of the five chances he had.
 
Sunderland Interested in Scot 11/8/04
 
Sunderland have delclared their interest in the 20 year old Dumbarton defender, Neil Collins. He has trained with Sunderland this week to try and gain himself a contract at the SoL.
 
McCarthy Praises Kyle 11/8/04
 
Mick has praised Kyle for dismissing a hip injury to help Sunderland towards a 3-1 victory over Crewe. Throughout the match, Kyle was carrying pain, but played it out for the team. However, he passed a fitness test at 6 o'clock, which made him eligable to play.
 
Elliot Vows To Score 9/8/04
 
Stephen Elliot hopes to score against Crewe tomorrow in order to repay Mick McCarthy. Kevin Kyle is likely to be in the starting line-up on Tuesday, consequently, Marcus Stewart or Stephen Elliot will be dropped. Therefore, Stephen Elliot hopes to keep his place and score against crewe.....
 
 
Ready To Go 4/8/04
 
Marcus Stewart says that he wants to get one over his/our former manager Peter Reid. There is also hope and enthusiasm within the players as they are ready to go into the new season.

No Bid For Hooolio 4/8/04
 
Today, Sunderland announced that there is no approach from Manchester City to sign Julio Arca. There has been much speculation of him leaving Sunderland to play at a higher level, however, Arca is still considering signing a new contract at the Stadium of Light.
 
 
Dazza Backs Youngsters 2/7/04
 
Darren Williams is backing the youngsters of the refreshed squad to become good players at Sunderland. Players such as Lawrence, Whitehead, Lynch, Elliot and Caldwell are all under 24 and have a promising future ahead of them, and Dazza Williams is backing them to fullfill their potential.
 
Mick is Still Searching.. 2/7/04
 
Mick McCarthy is still searching for that extra striker, as Marck Burchill returned to Portsmouth on the weekend. Nor Blake or Burchill will be playing for Sunderland next season after they were invited to train with the Black Cats. We'll see folks...
 
Doncaster Rovers 1-3 Sunderland 1/8/04
 
Sunderland put in a good performance at Doncaster today with an impressive 3-1 victory. Michael McIndoe put Doncaster in the lead in the 15th minute with a free-kick. However, Sunderland midfielder Carl Robinson scored to make the score 1-1. Consequently, Sunderland grew in confidence and Marcus Stewart made it 2-1 after 60 minutes. In the end, Jamie Price scored an own goal to give Sunderland a comfortable 3-1 victory. Overall, a good last pre-season performance before Sunderland take on Coventry next week end.....
